Medium pacer Irfan Pathan said every domestic cricket match has become important for him to make a comeback to the Indian team.
"For me every domestic match has become of immense importance. I hope a string of good performance will get me back in the national squad," Pathan told PTI after giving prizes to the winners of TATA Photon Plus contest here.
"I left no stone unturned in my efforts to impress the selectors and would stage comeback like what Sreesanth had done earlier. Sreesanth did well in domestic matches and after returning to Indian team, he put up a performance which was quite inspirational. I want to make a comeback like him," Pathan said.
"This kind of comeback strengthens the belief that you can also do it and it was there to see in the Ranji matches I played," he said.
He missed a Ranji match against Delhi at home due to injury and Pathan said making a comeback after remaining out of game for two months was not easy.
"Every cricketer has to improve to cement his place in the national team. I tried to give my best in every domestic match and hope it will get the attention of the selectors," Pathan said.
He described Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh as two pillars of middle order batting.
During this Ranji season, Pathan has bagged 22 wickets and scored more than 390 runs.
Under his captaincy, Baroda won two matches -- against Saurashtra and Maharashtra.
